Sustainability

What does sustainability mean at Verona Design House?

For us, sustainability begins with products that are not designed to be short-lived. Our products are handcrafted in Europe from hand-blown glass and designed as durable design objects. We do not view sustainability as a one-off promise, but as an ongoing commitment to shaping our materials and processes in a more conscious way, step by step.

How does the product design contribute to a long service life?

For example, our lights always feature a standard E27 socket. The bulb can therefore be replaced separately from the light fitting and chosen to suit the required brightness, light colour and personal needs. This means that if a bulb is faulty or you wish to use a different one, there is no need to replace the entire light fitting.

How does VDH pack and dispatch its goods?

Glass requires particularly reliable protection during dispatch. That is why we package our products in a way that is both sturdy and safe for the product, whilst using only as much packaging material as is necessary to ensure safe transport. At the same time, we are constantly reviewing how we can reduce unnecessary packaging components and make more sensible use of materials.

Why are the products handmade exclusively in Europe?

The glass used in these products is mouth-blown in European workshops. The individual components are then assembled by hand to form a complete product. Manufacturing in Europe allows for close coordination with the workshop and supports our high standards in terms of design, craftsmanship and quality control. Minor variations in colour and shape are part and parcel of the artisanal character of each piece.
